NAME's Soap Recipe
Chocolate Swirl by Irlynda Smith
I will have to enter this in the 'Soaps that Work' category as this is my best Selling soap. :-) Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 20 oz Olive Oil
- 14 oz Palm Oil
- 14 oz Coconut Oil
- 12 oz Soybean Oil
- 10 oz Palm Kernal Oil
- 6 oz Cocoa Butter
- 6 oz Shea Butter
- 4 oz Castor Oil
- 2 oz Jojoba Oil
- 22.08 fl oz or 12.03 oz by weight Water* [This is a 20% water reduction that I use to help with production]
- 12.12 oz wt NaOH [6% superfat]
Additives: -
- 6 oz chocolate extract, reduced to remove alcohol content
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 3 Tblspns Turbano or other organic sugar
- 1.5 Tblspns fossil or sea salt
- 4 ml Vitamin E Oil
Method/Note
CP or HP soap as usual with all precautions.
Save jojoba, shea & cocoa butter & vitamin E oil; add at trace. Dissolve sugar & salt in 1 oz hot distilled water stir in reduced chocolate extract; add at trace. Set aside 1/4 of recipe, mold remainder. Mold should have large top opening unlike PVC tube or upright molds. Fold cocoa powder into reserved traced soap. Pour dollops in soap. Swirl cocoa mixture with knife into soap like you would marble cake batter, don't over do it! If you have left over cocoa powder soap, spread it on top, like icing.
This recipe can also be made in two batches for added flair. Make dark chocolate soap first and shred.
When light chocolate soap is at trace, fold in dark chocolate shreds. Beautiful.
Note: *For beginner soapmakers, it would be best to make this recipe with using 28 fl oz of distilled water. As doing a water discount batch may be difficult to grasp while you are learning how to make soap. I would not want to encourage others to try this until they have a year or so experience.
