Catawba Wine by Kirstin Campbell

Kirstin's Catawba Wine Soap Recipe

Zen. LOL... I decided that the ultimate relaxation of a good glass of wine with a good meal and a nice soaking spa experience combined together was my favourite of favourite things!
My wine soap was a combination of all these things except the meal. LOL!

Base Ingredients

  • 15 oz Coconut oil
  • 15 oz Olive oil
  • 12 oz Cottonseed oil
  • 12 oz Soybean oil
  • 18 oz. Water/Wine*
  •  7 3/4 oz NaOH

Additive

  • Alkanet powder infused in 1 oz of the olive oil for colourant.

Notes

*I took 6 oz. wine, simmered about 5 minutes then added enough water to equal 18 oz. liquid.

The alkanet is odd - sometimes it's a gorgeous deeper purple, other times a gray lilac shade. I could have used a bit more, but this one is more a grayed lilac. It is a cold process/oven process, meaning I cold process the soap, and then put it in the oven at 150°F for 2 hours and allow it to gel, cutting it at 12 hours after trace, and it cures 4 weeks.
