Trade Winds by Roger McPherson

Roger's Trade Winds Soap Recipe

We tried to address both themes of the swap. Everything but the essential oils are a tried and true recipe we have used for years. In that, it truely is a soap that works for us very well.

The essential oil blend is citrus with a base note of Patchouli. We feel that scent has an earth and sky quality to it that exemplifies the Zen idea of being every where and connected to the Universe.

Base Ingredients

  • 40 oz Olive oil
  • 20 oz Coconut oil
  • 20 oz Palm oil
  • 20 oz Palm Kernel oil
    cooled to 100°F
  • 34 oz filtered water
  • 14.5 oz NaOH
    cooled to 100°F

Added at trace

  • 5 oz Jojoba oil
  • 2 oz Sweet Orange essential oil
  • 2 oz Lime essential oil
  • 2 oz Lemon essential oil
  • 1 oz Patchouli essential oil

Notes

It is a CP method soap. We have discounted the water a few ounces and use a stick blender, so it traces in a minute or two.
