NAME's Soap Recipe
Lavender Labyrinth by Tania Small
My inspiration for this soap is a place I'd like to create for myself.... a circular maze of lavender with a carved wooden
seat in the middle.. where I can sit quietly and reflect.
Base Ingredients
- 562.5 g Olive Pomace oil
- 187.5 g Lard
- 187.5 g Palm
- 125.0 g Shea Butter Unrefined
- 125.0 g Cocoa Butter Unrefined
- 62.5 g Castor oil BP
- 314.7 g Water [20% discount]
- 158.7 g NaOH [6% superfat]
Additives
- 1 Tbsp UM green
- 1 Tbsp UM blue
Method/Notes
This was a very experimental CP batch for me... I didn't want to use coconut and have not used Ultramarine
colourants before, so please excuse the intensity of the colour.. I didn't scent it as the procedure I used would
not appreciate any seizing, so I didn't take that risk. :)
I split the batch 50/50 at heavy trace and added the colour to each bowl. Then I laid down some baking paper
in a lamington tray and spread one half like peanut butter.. I let that sit for about 15 minutes and then I
gently spread the other coloured soap on top. I let that sit for about 1.5 hours and then when it was
just starting to harden, I rolled it up like a jam roll. It's still in very experimental stages, and hope you
like the outcome, apart from the air pockets in the middle of some, I was very pleased with the end result.
I should mention about the importance of wearing gloves at all times. I put on a pair while I made this soap jam roll,
as the soap is still very raw, when you roll.... safety always comes first!
