Annick's Hemp Meal Soap Recipe
Hemp Meal Soap by Annick - Kootenay Coconut Soaps
This recipe is quite basic... not a real mystery for soapers I'm sure. Here it is:
Ingredients
- 5 kg Coconut Oil
- 1.9 Kg Water
- .67 kg Sodium Hydroxide
- 67.5 g Oats Flour
- 50 ml Hemp Oil
- 25 g Crushed Hemp Meal
Method
- Melt oil & let cool to 95 F.
- Mix water & Sodium Hydroxide, let cool to 95 F.
- Mix lye & water mixture into the oil and stir for about 2 hours.
- Add oat flour, hemp oil & hemp meal just before trace.
- Once trace is reached, pour into molds & insulate for 24 hours.
- Uncover & let cool 12 hours.
- Unmold, cut to size & dry 3-4 weeks.
This recipe is our "latest creation" in that we have added hemp meal for a little exfoliating properties. It is unscented and un-coloured for sensitive skins.
My husband David & I have been soaping it up for about a year now. We purchased the company from Cathy-Ann last summer and have been soaping it up ever since. Cathy Ann has been our "soap mentor" this last year, helping us with learning the art of soap making. The soap list has also been extremely helpful; I enjoy reading all the information and hopefully will be able to contribute more as our experience increases!
We truly love having a home-business, especially so we can be with our daugher Hailey, who's almost 2. It's amazing to see all those beautiful soaps that we can create, it is truly an art!
