Queen of Sheba Soap by Miriam Kresh

I chose a Biblical theme as appropriate to a product coming from the Holy Land. The Queen of Sheba came from Ethiopia on a visit of state to make the acquaintance of King Solomon. The royal pair fell in love and married, but Sheba had to return home to rule her kingdom. It is said that Sheba bore King Solomon a boy, who, upon attaining manhood, left Ethiopia for Israel to meet his father and claim his heritage there. (Let me explain that Solomon had many wives and concubines, a common practice all those centuries ago.)

"I am black, but I am beautiful", said Sheba to King Solomon. Well, this soap isn't black, but it is dark and sensual. The Song of Songs, a long poem in Ecclesiastes which can be read in several different ways, was written by Solomon and is said to refer to his love for Sheba. The mystics of our tradition say that it refers to the love of God for his people, but taken in its simple form, you see many references to fragrant herbs and flowers, milk and honey. For the milk I used whey. Among the flowers mentioned, I chose rose to dominate the floral scent.

The label is my business label. I hope the soap pleases.
