Marina's Shaving Twins

Marina's Silk & Clay Shaving Twins
-------------------------
I have chosen for this swap a recipe that uses my favourite method (DWCP, or discounted water cold process), and a new blend of my favourite essential oils, i.e. Australian natives.
Also, I am using my favourite colours... that is, either no colour at all (except of course the "hue" imparted by the oils used in the recipe), or colours obtained from natural additives - in this case, Shelley's British Columbia Glacial Green Clay.
Enjoy! :-)

Silk twin (yields approx 2.5kg of soap):
----------
olive oil 600g (40%)
coconut oil 450g (30%)
rice bran oil 270g (18%)
palm oil 120g (8%)
castor oil 60g (4%)

NaOH 204g (7% superfat)
water 310g (40% lye solution)
silk fibers 2g (i.e., a generous pinch)

At trace:
8ml each of kunzea ambigua, lemon myrtle, Western Australian sandalwood and white cypress.

Prepare first the lye and silk solution. Place the silk in the container with the water and add NaOH very slowly, mixing well to make sure it's all dissolved. Cover with lid and set aside to cool down.

Place the oils on the heat till the hard oils are melted.

When oils are around 40C and lye is 40C or less, add the lye and silk solution to the oils and bring to trace. Add the essential oil blend, pour into the moulds and insulate to make sure the soap goes through gel stage. Unmould when set (6 to 12 hours after pouring).

Clay twin (yields approx 2.5kg of soap):
----------
olive oil 600g (40%)
coconut oil 450g (30%)
rice bran oil 270g (18%)
palm oil 120g (8%)
castor oil 60g (4%)

NaOH 204g (7% superfat)
water 310g (40% lye solution)

At trace:
1 1/2 tablespoons (approx. 45g) of BC glacial green clay, infused in 8ml each of kunzea ambigua, lemon myrtle, Western Australian sandalwood and white cypress.

Proceed as in previous recipe, omitting the silk.
